Cute little coffee shop that is tucked into a grocery store plaza with a Starbucks. I stopped in one morning and had a caramel macchiato and a treat. I was impressed with the baked good both began and gluten free options. I grabbed a gluten free peanut butter chocolate chip cookies for later and it was a perfect afternoon treat. The cookie was not dry or hard like many gluten free treats. My macchiato was well made but I noticed that all the caramel was at the bottom so it needed to be stirred better.

Inside is nothing special but there's plenty of tables and even a little space at the bar. The wifi of course is free. In the evening they also serve beer.

With "Espresso Bar" in their name, I expected better options. There was espresso or drip coffee or cold brew. The rest of the menu consisted of food items.

While my latte was tasty, it wasn't exceptional, hence the 3 star.

(Note: I am a hard critic on coffee shops having been a barista in Seattle.)

Really not gluten free friendly. Alternative milk selection is dismal. Guess I shouldn't expect much in Topeka

Was in town for a softball tournament and leaving on a Sunday morning. Wanted to grab a fresh coffee for the 4 Hour drive home and found this place a couple of miles away from the hotel and stopped by. Got a large vanilla flavored coffee which was tasty. My daughter got a strawberry smoothie to go which she said was really good. Also picked up an everything bagel with lox cream cheese. Toasted bagel was tasty and cream cheese was nice as it had bits of fresh lox mixed in. (Although I love lox and a bit more would have been fine for me! ) Fresh cucumbers and tomatoes topped off the breakfast sandwich. All three ran us about $15. The workers there were super friendly and took care of us. Seems like a nice local place. It definitely had a mom and pop feel. If I lived in town I would definitely frequent this place again.

In major need of caffeine and food before we made the trek back to Denver, Blackbird was on our radar to fulfill that need! We stopped here early morning and was stoked they were open since it'd right near the university. The only other people inside were cops, I'm talking city and state patrol so I felt safe!

I ordered an Americano, two breakfast sandwiches and banana nut bread to go. The Americano was really weak and bitter, it took me about four hours to choke down entirely. The breakfast sandwiches on the other hand were awesome! I can't remember which one I got but it was a grilled croissant with feta and olives and it was delightful. $20 later, we were full and ready to hit the road but I wish the coffee held up to the reviews I read on the Yelp.
